Of the difficulty to feed our body properly


Nutrition has hit the headline twice recently in what, at first glance, seems to be contradictory ways.

In one hand, the obesity pandemic is constantly spreading in the UK among children.

And in the other hand, the number of hospital admissions for eating disorders in UK has shot up.

In this world of plentiful, our reasons for eating are multiple but they are often fuelled by skewed - if not dishonest - messages found in glossy magazines, instagram, of tv adverts. As result, some might eat was is cheap and readily available such as a family-size packet of crisps while other will try to live on cucumbers in the pursuit of a unrealistic body-shape.

There isn’t a simple answer to this complex problem but a good start would be to acknowledge that our body is a complex machine that needs a wide variety of nutrient-dense foods to function to its best.

Registered Nutritionists and Dietitians have to work within the community to raise awareness and empower people to make the right choices.
